Chromosome studies in familial leukaemia.

چکیده
The finding of an inherited chromosome abnormality (Chl) in several members of a family, including two who had developed chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Gunz, Fitzgerald, and Adams, i962), led to the suggestion that this abnormality predisposed its carriers to the development of the disease, and that inherited cytogenetic abnormalities of this type might determine some instances of familial leukaemia. In an attempt to test this hypothesis we have now made chromosome investigations of a further ii families with leukaemia, or leukaemia and a related neoplastic disorder, in two or more first-degree relatives.

Detection of abl/bcr Fusion Gene in Patients Affected by Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia by Dual-Colour Interphase Fluorescence in situ Hybridisation
Conventional cytogenetic is the standard technique for detection of Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Evaluation of abelson murine leukemia/breakpoint cluster region (abl/bcr) fusion using dual-colour fluorescence in situ hybridization (D-FISH) is an alternative approach allowing rapid and reliable detection of the disease. We employed the technique of interphase D...

Approximately 1.3% of males and 1% of females in Europe and North America develop leukaemia. CLL is the most common of its subtypes, constituting about 30% of all cases. Its incidence rate increases logarithmically from age 35 and has a median age of onset of 64 years. No single cytogenetic abnormality or gene mutation is found in all CLL cases. However, activation of each of the oncogenes BCL1...
متن کاملP-239: NGS Mapping Breakpoints of a Familial Chromosome Insertion (18:7) (q22.1; q36.2 q21.11) to DPP6 and CACNA2D1 Genes in An Azoospermic Man
Background: Aberrant chromosomes can cause azoospermia but little is known about its molecular mechanism. Our aim is to explore any possible genetic defective to explain a given male infertility. Materials and Methods: An azoopsermic male was identified in a 23 years old male. G-banding and FISH confirmed the karyotype as chromosome insertion (18:7) (q22.1; q36.2q21.11). NGS was performed to an...
متن کاملA Patient with Interstitial 5q21 Deletion, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis, Dysmorphic Features, and Profound Neurologic Dysfunction
Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a hereditary autosomal dominant cancer syndrome, results from germ line mutation or deletion of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) gene on chromosome 5q21. Patients with FAP suffer from multiple polyps mainly at the colorectal region as well as other parts of the gastrointestinal tract, which has propensity to transform into carcinoma. FAP has also...
متن کاملPractice of Consanguinity and Unusual Cases of Inherited Familial Chromosome Abnormalities: A Case Report
We present 2 cases of likely rare event. In case 1, 3rd degree consanguineous marriage revealed inv(6) with same break points in parents who were found to be phenotypically normal. The same inv(6) being inherited in progeny but presented with low AMH (anti Mullerian hormone) and high level of FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) leading to polycystic ovarian syndrome/premature ovarian failure. ...
